The Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) has successfully completed an institutional strengthening training for its Board, held on Friday, 26 September. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Lilly Bellabun, a governance specialist from the New Zealand Government’s Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA) Program.

The training aimed to enhance the Board’s capacity in governance, sustainability, and long-term growth. It covered proposal writing, donor assessment, and the preparation of essential governance documents. Participants were also introduced to key regional frameworks, including the Pacific Region Five-Year Strategic Plan, to guide SVSG’s alignment with broader development goals.

SVSG President, Siliniu Lina Chang, reaffirmed the importance of building Board leadership capacity:

“For SVSG to continue its mission of serving the most vulnerable in Samoa, our Board must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions. This training is another step forward in ensuring sustainability and accountability in everything we do.”

Alongside SVSG Board members, representatives from partner NGOs also took part, including Ms. Ladesha Stevenson from the Senese Inclusive Education Board. The collaborative approach reflects SVSG’s commitment to strengthening civil society governance through shared knowledge and partnerships.
