On Saturday 7 March 2026, the 72nd Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) met at Marlborough House, London to which the Honourable Minister, Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molio’o attended as the representative of the Honourable Prime Minister and the Chair-in-Office of the Commonwealth. The meeting was chaired by the Honourable Dr Ian Borg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta. The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group members included, Antigua and Barbuda, Botswana, Canada, Grenada, Malaysia, Mauritius and Zambia as Deputy Chair.

CMAG was created in 1995 to be a custodian of the fundamental political values of the Commonwealth. Following discussions, CMAG issued a concluding statement as the outcome of the meeting.

The CMAG meeting precedes the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM) that is to be held at Lancaster House, London on Sunday 8th March 2026. The Honourable Minister Mulipola will chair CFAMM.

The Minister also met with Prof. Colin Riordan, Secretary General of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and Dr. Beate Knight, Head of Programmes, Business Development and International Mobility on Friday 6th March 2026, to discuss updates regarding The King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme (KCFP). The KCFP was launched by His Majesty King Charles III during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa. The ACU shared that the first 50 “Kings Fellows” have now been placed, and to date 21 PHD candidates and 30 mid-career fellows from SIDS have begun the programme. Opportunities were also discussed with the Honourable Minister in how to enhance the outreach and participation of Samoans in the Kings Commonwealth Fellowship Programme, as well as engagement with host universities.
