The “Let It End With Me” Campaign was launched today by the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) ahead of Sanarosa’s Closure Ceremony. This initiative involves students from Maluafou College and St. Joseph’s College as they unite to honour the memory of Sanarosa, a young girl whose tragic death at the age of 18 deeply impacted the community.

Sanarosa’s story is a powerful reminder of the consequences of abuse and the importance of standing up against violence. SVSG chose these two schools to carry her message because they believe that students, teachers, and families are all part of the healing process, especially when dealing with mental health challenges and recent violent incidents.

The campaign started at Maluafou College with a moving video of Sanarosa’s last message, touching the hearts of everyone present. Reverend Iakopo Faasalaina, the Vice Principal, joined the school in reflecting on her message and the need for compassion and support within the community.

Later in the afternoon, the campaign continued at St. Joseph’s College, where Sister Jacinta Fidow and the SVSG team shared Sanarosa’s message. The students and staff listened carefully, understanding the importance of ending violence and creating a culture of care and respect.

Sanarosa’s story has inspired students to take action, showing them the importance of protecting one another and rejecting all forms of violence. SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang reminded the students of the importance of life, urging them to choose kindness and uplift those around them. “Do not let Sanarosa’s death be in vain,” she said, emphasizing how fortunate the students are to have families that care for and protect them.

The SVSG is committed to advocating for non-violence among young people in Samoa, and through the “Let It End With Me” Campaign, they aim to create lasting change. Thousands of students across the two schools have now pledged to carry on Sanarosa’s legacy by choosing to care for one another and break the cycle of violence.

Sanarosa’s Closure Ceremony will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 9:30 AM in Fasitoo-uta, where the community is invited to honor this young hero and continue her message of love, respect, and peace.
