Today, two small planes from Samoa Airways landed at Fitiuta Airport in what pilot Dida Clinton suggests may be a historic first for the airport. The aircraft were chartered to transport Manu’a High School students to Tutuila for the DOE Musical Festival, highlighting the important role of the airport in connecting Manu’a and Tutuila islands. Fitiuta, located in the storied Manu’a group, is steeped in Samoan heritage, playing a key part in maintaining the cultural and educational linkages that are vital to the community’s rich history and lineage.
