Samoa Football farewells U17 Women’s team for World Cup

Samoa Football held a send-off on 14 August for the U17 Women’s team ahead of their departure to Morocco for the 2025 World Cup.

The celebration came a day after Samoa’s U16 Women’s team secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Many of the U17 squad members are drawn from the U16 side and include players from Samoa, American Samoa, New Zealand, and Australia.

Coach Juan Urrea praised the players’ skill and commitment, naming the squad as Reyna Tufuga, Margaet Fagasuisui Tui, Siatunuu McCarthy, Alia Loua, Simone Blood, Mikayla Afoa, Mia Afoa, Breanna Kitiona, Ayres Ava, Jhalilah, Leonard Makeli, Leah Atuaia, Brielle Tautua, Macey Tuiolosega, Taimane Devoux, Makea Leonard, Cali Willis, Holly Leapai, Aaliyah Johnson, and Jayde Elredge Sagapolutele.

In his address, the President of Samoa Football encouraged the team to give their all while staying grounded, thanking them for their dedication and for representing Samoa on the world stage.
