The Samoa Business Hub (SBH) has launched a new financial assistance initiative funded by the Government of Samoa, offering support for start-ups and micro businesses. The launch took place during a two-day Awareness Program in Savai‘i, with sessions held at Vaisala and Salelologa. This initiative follows a similar introduction of support in Upolu in December, which was delivered via cohort-based programs.

The event was opened by the Chairman of the SBH Trustees, Malolo Vaai Alo Kolone Vaai. In his remarks, the Chairman acknowledged the Government’s role in providing support for the private sector, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and noted the selection of SBH as the implementing agency for the new loan facility. The Chairman also highlighted that strengthening the private sector-widely recognized as the backbone of any government; is essential for sustainable development, resilience, and economic growth in Samoa.

The Honorable Minister for MCIL, STA, and SBH, Fata Ryan Schuster, delivered remarks on behalf of the Government of Samoa. The Minister stated that the SAT 3 million financial assistance program is designed to improve access to finance for start-ups and micro businesses, featuring a reduced interest rate of 6 percent. The Minister outlined that the program aims to help entrepreneurs establish and grow their businesses, further reinforcing the crucial role MSMEs play in building a strong and vibrant private sector.

During the second session in Salelologa, Associate Minister Amituanai reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting MSMEs and encouraged entrepreneurs in Savai‘i to take advantage of the opportunities provided through the Samoa Business Hub.

The launch and awareness sessions represent a step in the ongoing collaboration between the Government of Samoa and the Samoa Business Hub, with a focus on empowering local entrepreneurs and strengthening the MSME sector; the foundation of Samoa’s private sector and a key driver of national development.

Held at Vaisala Hotel and Don Bosco Hall, Salelologa, Savai‘i, on 27–28 January 2026.
