Salāmatua Jenny Lauano appointed CEO of Ministry of Education and Culture

The Government of Samoa has confirmed the appointment of Salāmatua Toiaivao Tauifā’aetamālī’i Jenny Lauano as Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The appointment is for a three-year term following Cabinet approval.

Salāmatua moves into the role after serving as Assistant Chief Executive Officer for Performance and Development since 2024. Before that, she held the position of A.C.E.O. for Teacher Development and Advisory Services from 2014 to 2024.

Her earlier experience includes seven years in teaching, along with her role as Head of the Business Department at Latter-Day Saints College in Pesega from 2007 to 2014.

Her background within the Ministry spans more than a decade in senior leadership, with a focus on teacher performance and development.

Salāmatua holds a Master of Education and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of the South Pacific. She also holds qualifications from Brigham Young University and a Teaching Certificate from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture.

The appointment places her in charge of one of the country’s central ministries responsible for education policy, school systems, and national development through learning.

The appointment was announced in a Cabinet release issued by the Press and Communication Division of the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet on Friday, 10 April 2026.
