Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ti’amanana Matale Capt. Foetutasi Fa’amausili as the new General Manager of the Samoa Ports Authority.
The appointment is for three years.
Ti’amanana has served as Port Master at the authority since 2022 and also held the role of Assistant Chief Executive Officer overseeing the Maritime Division.
His career spans 40 years in Samoa and overseas, including service with the Samoa Police as Chief Navigation Officer for the Nafanua from 1986 to 1990.
He later worked as Marine Harbour Pilot and Assistant Harbour Master with the Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Shipping Division, before serving as Senior Captain and Foreign-Going Deck Officer for Samoa Shipping Corporation Limited and Pacific Forum Line.
Ti’amanana also worked in New Zealand with Ports of Auckland Limited at Onehunga Wharf, and later in Sydney, Australia, and the United States.
He holds a Master’s in Business Administration in Maritime Operations and a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Maritime Operations from the University of Plymouth in England.
He also obtained an International Diploma in Harbourmasters from IBC Lloyd’s Academy in London, and holds Marine Pilot and Master Mariner qualifications from the Royal Australian Navy.
The new General Manager is from Gagāemalae in Foa’iluga, Malie, Lepea, and Asau, Savai’i.
