Samoa motorists will see a sharp drop in diesel and kerosene prices this month, while petrol will increase slightly from 1 July 2026.
The Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molio’o, has advised that the new retail petroleum prices, inclusive of VAGST, will apply from 1 July to 31 July 2026.
Under the new prices:
Petrol increases by 1.7 sene per litre, moving from $3.99 to $4.00 per litre.
Diesel decreases by 82.3 sene per litre, moving from $5.31 to $4.48 per litre.
Kerosene decreases by 100.1 sene per litre, moving from $5.02 to $4.02 per litre.
According to the Ministry of Finance, July’s retail fuel prices are based on cargo loaded in May and delivered to Samoa in June 2026.
The Ministry said the price decreases for diesel and jet/kerosene reflect the removal of significant premiums that traders and consumers paid for those refined products in April.
Petrol prices did not include those same premiums and have therefore remained at April levels.
The Government also noted that crude oil and refined product markets are expected to remain volatile over the coming months.
The Ministry said the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, signed on 18 June, sets out conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz while calling for an immediate end to hostilities, including in Lebanon.
It said the United States and Iran will negotiate for 60 days to bring a final end to the war.
On supply, the Government said it continues to work with its supplier, ExxonMobil, with further cargoes scheduled to arrive this week and again in mid-August.
For July 2026, the maximum retail prices are:
Petrol: $4.00 per litre
Diesel: $4.48 per litre
Kerosene: $4.02 per litre
