Taumeasina Island Resort has marked its 10th anniversary, with Samoa’s Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Hon. Mulipola Anarosa Molio’o, describing the occasion as a milestone of vision, investment, resilience and partnership.

The anniversary celebration was held at Taumeasina Island Resort on Wednesday evening, bringing together Cabinet members, members of the diplomatic corps, the resort’s board of directors, invited guests and staff.

Speaking on behalf of the Government and people of Samoa, Mulipola congratulated everyone who had contributed to the resort’s growth over the past decade.

“Ten years represents far more than the passing of time,” she said. “It reflects a decade of vision, commitment, investment, resilience and partnership.”

Mulipola said Taumeasina had become more than a luxury destination, describing it as an important part of Samoa’s tourism industry. She said the resort had created employment for hundreds of Samoans, supported local businesses, showcased Samoan culture and welcomed visitors from around the world.

“The resort itself has become a destination within a destination,” she said.

The Acting Prime Minister also used the occasion to highlight the importance of tourism to Samoa’s future economic growth. She said the sector remained a powerful driver of employment, foreign exchange and community development under the Pathway for the Development of Samoa 2026/27 to 2030/31.

She said Samoa’s tourism future would depend on strengthening partnerships between government, the private sector and villages, while supporting eco-tourism, cultural tourism and community-based initiatives.

Mulipola also acknowledged the role of Papua New Guinea in the development of Taumeasina, saying the resort stood as an example of what Pacific nations could achieve through shared vision and cooperation.

She said the investment and long-term commitment of Papua New Guinean partners had helped create a destination both Samoa and Papua New Guinea could be proud of.

“It demonstrates that regional cooperation is not simply an idea — it delivers real opportunities, creates jobs, strengthens economies, and builds lasting friendships across our Pacific family,” she said.

The Acting Prime Minister paid tribute to the resort’s board, shareholders, management and staff, saying their dedication had helped establish Taumeasina as one of Samoa’s leading tourism destinations.

She also thanked the staff for their hospitality and professionalism, describing them as “true ambassadors of Samoa”.

“As we celebrate tonight, we also look to the future,” Mulipola said. “May the next decade bring continued success, new opportunities, stronger partnerships, and even greater contributions to Samoa’s tourism industry and economy.”

The evening closed with a toast to 10 years of success, the friendship between Samoa and Papua New Guinea, and the future of Taumeasina Island Resort.
