Apia, Samoa – Computer Services Limited (CSL Samoa) has successfully completed its first-ever Digital Literacy Initiative in Savai’i, marking another milestone in the company’s nearly 50-year commitment to empowering Samoans through technology, innovation and now education.
Over the last few weeks, the Fono Fa’avae of Vaisigano District No. 2 and Fa’asaleleaga No. 3 became the first districts in Savai’i to invest in Digital Literacy Training through a partnership with CSL Samoa, equipping participants with practical digital skills for employment, education, business and everyday life.
Training was delivered in the village of Sataua for participants from Vaisigano District No. 2, while Sapapali’i hosted participants from Fa’asaleleaga No. 3. Teachers, district office staff, health representatives, church leaders and community members came together with one shared purpose – to strengthen the digital capability of their communities.
Participants successfully completed Microsoft Word Essentials and Microsoft Excel Essentials, earning qualifications endorsed by the Samoa Qualifications Authority (SQA) and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). These internationally recognised qualifications provide participants with practical, transferable digital skills that support employment, further education and professional opportunities both in Samoa and overseas.
Every CSL Digital Literacy Programme is delivered by experienced Information Technology professionals with tertiary qualifications and real-world industry experience, ensuring participants receive practical, relevant training they can apply with confidence.

By choosing to invest in digital literacy, Vaisigano District No. 2 and Fa’asaleleaga No. 3 have demonstrated that one of the smartest investments a community can make is in the capability of its people.

The impact of the initiative was equally evident among participants.
Asiasiga Ioane Aeau, a teacher who completed the two-day programme, said the training had given her valuable new skills that she is excited to take back into her classroom.
“I learned so much over the two-day CSL Digital Literacy Programme. It has expanded my knowledge and given me practical skills that I can now take back to better support and teach my students. I’m grateful to our district and to CSL Samoa for investing in us.”
Her experience demonstrates the lasting impact of digital education. When one teacher gains new knowledge, countless students benefit. When one person grows, entire families, classrooms and communities grow alongside them.
CSL Samoa also acknowledges the leadership of Le Afioga Papali’i Li’o Oloipola Taeu Masipau, Taitaifono o le Fono Fa’avae o Fa’asaleleaga No. 3, for officially opening the training in Sapapali’i and championing lifelong learning within the district.
