Sonny Brown appointed CEO of Samoa Shipping Corporation

Cabinet has approved the appointment of Tau’ili’ili Vaelua Sonny Brown as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa Shipping Corporation.

Tau’ili’ili has been appointed for a three-year term and brings extensive experience in the maritime sector, having served the corporation for many years.

He holds a Bachelor of Vocational Studies, completed in 2021, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies, completed in 2023, from the National University of Samoa.

The Government said Tau’ili’ili has also obtained several specialised professional certifications in marine engineering in Samoa and overseas.

Tau’ili’ili succeeds Leiataua Samuel Phineas as Chief Executive Officer.

The appointment was confirmed in a Cabinet release issued by the Government of Samoa on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
