The Minister of Finance has confirmed retail fuel price adjustments effective 1 February 2025. Prices for petrol and diesel will rise, while kerosene prices have decreased.

New Retail Prices (Samoan Tala):

  • Petrol (ULP): $2.99 per litre (up by 7.3 sene from $2.92).
  • Diesel (ADO): $3.10 per litre (up by 2.1 sene from $3.08).
  • Kerosene: $2.70 per litre (down by 1.2 sene from $2.71).

These changes are based on December 2024 Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) marker prices and the US$/SAT exchange rate. While MOPS refined prices caused minor adjustments, a 2% depreciation of the Tala against the US dollar contributed to the increases in petrol and diesel prices.

Global petroleum prices remain stable, with steady freight rates and refined product costs.

Regional Price Comparison (in Samoan Tala):

Country Petrol Price (SAT) Diesel Price (SAT)
Samoa $2.88 $2.99
Australia $3.00 $3.02
New Zealand $3.11 $3.15
Fiji $3.26 $2.78

Note: New Zealand’s diesel price reflects duty-free costs for long-distance travel.
