Ministry of Customs launches new logo and signs MoU with Samoa Post

The Ministry of Customs has officially launched its new corporate logo, marking a new chapter for the Ministry following its recent separation from Revenue.

The launch was held on Thursday, 2 July 2026, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Matautu-Tai, where the Ministry also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Samoa Post Limited to strengthen cooperation between the two agencies.

The ceremony opened with a prayer and sermon by Mauisiisii Alama Mose, who reflected on the importance of the new logo as more than just a visual design, but as a symbol of the Ministry’s values, identity, and service to Samoa.

Minister of Customs, Hon. Masinalupe Leatuavao Makesi Pisi, delivered the keynote address and congratulated the Ministry on the launch of its new identity.

He said the new logo represents an important milestone for Customs, reflecting the Ministry’s vision, direction, and commitment to the future.

The Minister said the work of Customs remains critical to Samoa, with the Ministry responsible for protecting the country’s borders, facilitating legitimate trade and travel, and collecting revenue to support the national economy.

He also reminded the management and staff that while a logo is important, public trust is built through professionalism, integrity, and faithful service.

“No logo, regardless of how well designed it may be, can build trust without the dedication, professionalism and integrity of the people who represent it every day,” the Minister said in his address.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Customs, Afioga Mulipola Lemalu Maletino Teofilo, also explained the meaning behind the new logo.

The national emblem sits at the centre of the design, aligning Customs with other national security agencies including Immigration, Police, and Biosecurity.

Traditional motifs around the crest reflect Samoan culture and the values of fa’aaloalo and tautua, while the blue colour palette symbolises Samoa’s oceans and skies, representing the Ministry’s ongoing responsibility to protect Samoa’s borders through Apia Port, Fagalii Airport, Faleolo International Airport, and other points of entry.

Following the unveiling of the new logo, the Ministry formalised its partnership with Samoa Post Limited through the signing of an MoU.

The agreement is aimed at improving communication and strengthening security protocols between Customs and Samoa Post, particularly in areas connected to border control and the movement of goods.

The Minister also acknowledged the work of the Ministry during the 2025/2026 financial year, noting that Customs had achieved its estimated revenue target as of 30 June 2026.

The event concluded with the unveiling of the new Ministry of Customs signage outside its Matautu-Tai office.
