Fa’amoetauloa Fa’asavalu Ah Siu Lin appointed Samoa’s new controller and auditor general

The Government of Samoa has announced the appointment of Fa’amoetauloa Fa’asavalu Ah Siu Lin as the country’s new Controller and Auditor General.

The appointment was made pursuant to Section 97 (1) and (2) of the Constitution of the Independent State of Samoa, following advice from Prime Minister La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polata’ivao Fosi Schmidt to the Head of State, Afioga Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi II.

Fa’amoetauloa was sworn into office during a ceremony at Parliament on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

He succeeds former Controller and Auditor General Fuimaono Papalii’i Camillo Afele, who resigned after many years of service in the position.

Fa’amoetauloa brings close to 20 years of experience with the Samoa Audit Office, where he has served in a number of roles. His most recent position was Director Legal.

He is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Accounting and Economics between 2007 and 2010. He later completed a Bachelor of Law between 2021 and 2025.

Fa’amoetauloa is also a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Samoa Institute of Accountants.

The Head of State and Prime Minister congratulated Fa’amoetauloa on his appointment and wished him well in his new role.
