In a ceremony filled with pride and support from families and friends, Samoa witnessed the official swearing-in of three new Associate Ministers today, a step that signifies the government’s commitment to enhancing its leadership and administrative capabilities. This event, held in the presence of the Prime Minister and distinguished Cabinet members, is a clear indication of the government’s dedication to bolstering governance and efficiency.
The appointed Associate Ministers, each representing their electoral constituencies, as reported by Savali Newspaper, are set to make significant contributions to the Ministries and independent government organisations they have been assigned to. Their involvement is expected to support the ongoing efforts of the Ministries and Departments, aiding in the execution of the government’s policies and initiatives.
The appointments include:
- Tuu’u Anasi’i Leota from the Siumu constituency, now serving as the Associate Minister for the Police, Prisons, and Fire Services (S.P.P.C.S. & S.F.E.S.A.), aiding the work of Minister Faualo Lefau Harry Jeffrey Schuster.
- ‘Ale Vena ‘Ale from the Faleata #4 constituency, who has been appointed as the Associate Minister for Customs and Revenue (M.C.R.), working in collaboration with Deputy Prime Minister or Minister Tuala Tevaga Iosefo Ponifasio.
- Mau’u Siaosi Pu’epu’e from the Va’a o Fonotī constituency, taking up the position of Associate Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, and Utilities (M.W.T.I.), to assist Minister ‘Olo Afoa Fiti Va’ai in his duties.
It is important to note that these individuals were initially members of the Human Rights Protection Party (H.R.P.P.) following the 2021 General Elections. However, after resigning from H.R.P.P., they returned to their constituencies for a by-election and were re-elected as representatives for the Faith in the One True God Samoa (F.A.S.T.) party.
