President Russell M. Nelson 100th Birthday Commemoration

On September 9, a special event was held to celebrate President Russell M. Nelson’s 100th birthday. President Nelson is the leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Family members, church leaders, and friends gathered at the Conference Center Theater in Salt Lake City to honour him. The event was broadcast live, with President Nelson, his wife Wendy, and his counselors, Presidents Dallin H. Oaks and Henry B. Eyring, seated on stage.

During the celebration, President Nelson expressed gratitude for the kindness and prayers he has received and reflected on his life’s experiences, including his travels to over 130 countries. He thanked his family, including his late wife, Sister Dantzel Nelson, and his current wife, Wendy Nelson. He also shared his faith in God’s plan and the importance of living a meaningful life.

Many church leaders and friends shared their admiration for President Nelson. President Jeffrey R. Holland called him a “Renaissance man,” praising his medical career, language skills, and musical talents. Relief Society President Camille N. Johnson spoke of feeling the Savior’s love through President Nelson’s leadership.

Friends from outside the church, like Rev. Amos C. Brown and Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, also shared their admiration for President Nelson’s life and leadership. The event featured musical performances and concluded with a video of President Nelson’s family singing, along with a final birthday song from the congregation.

The celebration was broadcast worldwide and remains available for viewing online.
