The Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority (SFESA) has received two ambulances and two Hiace vans from the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). The official handover took place on Friday, 15 November, at the Apia Station Bay Area.

SFESA Minister Susuga Faualo Harry Jeffrey Schuster described the handover as a critical boost to emergency response capabilities. “These vehicles are not just resources—they are lifelines for those in need,” he said during his keynote address.

The ambulances are equipped with advanced technology to support medical emergencies. “With these ambulances, we can ensure timely and effective care, particularly for rural communities where access to healthcare can be a challenge,” the Minister stated.

The Hiace vans will address SFESA’s logistical needs. “These vehicles will help transport personnel, equipment, and supplies, improving our efficiency in covering the entire country,” Faualo said.

ACC CEO and management were present to facilitate the handover. “This partnership is about ensuring public safety and supporting the critical work of first responders,” an ACC representative said. The vehicles were provided under ACC’s annual grant to SFESA.

The event also acknowledged the ongoing collaboration between the two organizations. “Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to safeguarding the lives of our people and ensuring Samoa is prepared for emergencies,” the Minister concluded.

The vehicles are expected to strengthen SFESA’s ability to respond to emergencies across Samoa.
