Madison Wells is producing a documentary about Jacinda Ardern, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand. The film will explore both her public and private life, highlighting her leadership after the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings, her response to the Covid pandemic, and her efforts on issues like child poverty and climate change.

The documentary, currently untitled, will cover Ardern’s journey from receiving the Labour Party nomination to the birth of her child and her resignation in 2023. The filmmakers aim to provide a raw and personal view of politics, with Ardern’s support. This will be Madison Wells’ first feature documentary.

Gigi Pritzker, CEO of Madison Wells and producer of the film, expressed pride in documenting Ardern’s life, praising her empathetic and inclusive leadership. Rachel Shane, head of film and TV at Madison Wells and another producer on the project, noted the team of renowned filmmakers involved and the excitement of sharing Ardern’s story with the world. The film is set to release in 2025, with CAA Media Finance handling rights.

Madison Wells’ current projects include “Genius: MLK/X,” “My Spy The Eternal City,” “Nonnas,” and “Miss You, Love You.” Their theatre division has produced shows like “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding,” “Hadestown,” and upcoming productions “Swept Away” and “We Live In Cairo.” Previously, they produced the Oscar-winning “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and Oscar-nominated “Hell or High Water.”
