The Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa, met with the new Governor of American Samoa, Hon. Pulaalii Nikolao Pula, and Lieutenant Governor, Hon. Pulu Ae Ae Jr., on 3 January 2025.
The meeting, held at the Governor’s Office in the AP Lutali Executive Office Building, followed the Governor’s inauguration ceremony earlier that morning. Discussions focused on practical areas of cooperation, including trade, civil aviation, labour mobility, and regional collaboration through the Pacific Islands Forum.
Samoa will host the next Atoa o Samoa talks in May 2025, continuing efforts to strengthen the relationship between the two Samoas. The Prime Minister was joined by Agafili Shem Leo, CEO of the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Consul General Fata Brian Kaio.
Governor Pula welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between Samoa and American Samoa, underscoring shared interests and cultural ties.
