Congratulations to Leaututu on the scholarship opportunity in Japan!
The 26-year-old Samoan man, Lea’ututu Manuia Lameta-Brown, has been successful in his application for a scholarship from the Government of Japan to continue his education at Kyoto University in Japan.
As Leaututu told reporters in a meeting this morning, this was his third application before finally receiving a positive response, and he did not lose heart despite his previous applications being unsuccessful.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Auckland, specialising in engineering, and is now pursuing a Master’s degree.
In his speech, Leaututu stated that his journey is to broaden his knowledge in the field of renewable energy. The expertise he will gain in Japan is aimed at contributing to the achievement of the Government’s ambitious plans to ensure that by the year 2031, 70 percent of its energy is renewable.
Leaututu is from the villages of Vaimoso and Moata’a.
