This morning (27/05/2024), a signing ceremony was held at the Central Bank of Samoa (CBS) office at the Ministry of Finance. The ceremony marked the agreement between the Government of Samoa and the disctrict councils of four districts from Upolu and Savai’i:
- Gagaifomauga I
- Gagaifomauga II
- Aiga i le Tai
- Faleata III
Following reviews of audit reports on the utilization of the initial $1,000,000, the Steering Committee officially approved, during their meeting on 23 March 2024, the signing of agreements for the second million and the disbursement of $160,000 (16%) for the operational activities of the District Councils’ offices.
The signing was conducted by the Representatives (Chairpersons), Vice-Chairpersons, and Secretaries of the district councils of the four districts.
Minister of Finance, Honourable Lautimuia Uelese Afoa, representing the Government, expressed gratitude to the District Councils for their patience and diligence during the implementation of the First Million Tala Project for FY2022-2023.
The Minister advised adhering to the scheduled timeline for the Second Million Tala Project, following the guidelines and policies, and working collaboratively with the Ministry for the benefit of district development.
