Lalomalava Primary School reconstruction completion ceremony

A handover ceremony was held on Friday, 30th May, to mark the completion of the reconstruction project for Lalomalava Primary School in Savaii, funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP).

The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Samoa, H.E. Mr. Senta Keisuke, the Associate Minister of Education, Hon. Agaseata Valelio Tanuvasa Peto, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture, community leaders, parents, teachers, and the excited students of Lalomalava Primary School.

The project, valued at a grant of up to USD 215,301 (approximately SAT 591,000), has provided extensive renovations to improve the school’s facilities. The reconstruction included eight new classrooms, a library, a principal’s office, a staff room, a reception area, and toilets. These enhancements ensure a conducive and safe learning environment for students, teachers, and staff.

The project is a testament to the strong ties between Japan and Samoa, highlighting their mutual commitment to improving educational infrastructure. Japan is proud to support the development of Lalomalava Primary School and trusts that the new school facilities will greatly benefit the children and the community at large.
