Apia, Samoa – The Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG), under the visionary leadership of Silinuu Lina Chang, has partnered with the British High Commission to deliver a transformative four-day workshop aimed at empowering youth leaders in Samoa. This initiative, generously funded by the British High Commission, is part of the global 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence, highlighting the critical role of youth in driving social change and promoting safer communities.

The workshop, held from December 2nd 2024, brings together a team of dedicated facilitators led by Galumalemana Ronna Lee. Joining her are Sr. Jacinta Fidow SMSM and Talaimanu Peneueta, the SVSG Youth Coordinator.

  • Day 2: Exploration of identity, ethical leadership, and emotional intelligence, with reflective talanoa sessions
  • Day 3: Understanding trauma within the Fa’asamoa framework and balancing traditional and modern leadership expectations
  • Day 4: Insights into Samoa’s juvenile justice system, safeguarding protocols, and role-play scenarios to practice referral and advocacy processes
