The Government of Samoa, through the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, has donated $12,000 to support Moataa Rugby Club’s centennial celebration.

During a press conference this week, committee member Afamasaga Faauiga Palepua Mulitalo thanked the Ministry for their contribution.

“The people of Moataa, both locally and abroad, have come together to raise funds for this milestone,” said Afamasaga.

A radiothon in March raised approximately $95,000, while a Tausala Online event held this month brought in an additional $70,000.

The national rugby governing body, Lakapi Samoa, will provide support to ensure safety and proper conduct of the tournament.

In a move to promote inclusivity, Moataa Rugby Club has partnered with a club for the deaf to ensure the participation of people with disabilities in the celebrations.
