Apia, Samoa – As Samoa prepares to celebrate its 63rd Independence, the Ministry of Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (MPPCS) took to the streets of Apia with a massive clean-up initiative this morning. Executives, staff, and volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clear litter and debris from the city’s iconic landmarks, including the O Papa City Boulevard, setting an example for the community.
The clean-up, held in collaboration with other government ministries and community members, underscores Samoa’s collective commitment to environmental stewardship and civic pride. Participants, including families and children, were seen raking leaves, bagging rubbish, and ensuring public spaces were pristine in time for the national celebration.

“Together, we can make every day a great day,” said the Ministry in a message shared online, encouraging the public to stay safe, connected, and positive. “Let’s uplift each other and create a supportive community.”
Quoting from Ephesians 4:32, the Ministry’s post called for unity and compassion:
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

The clean-up shows how everyone’s efforts, big or small, can help get Samoa ready for Independence Day. It’s a reminder of what we can achieve when we work side by side as a community, looking after our Samoa and each other.
