Apia, Samoa – The U.S. Embassy in Apia has confirmed the return of the Soifua Manuia Medical Mission to Samoa, in partnership with the Samoa Ministry of Health. From 22 to 30 April, U.S. medical professionals from the 1984th U.S. Army Reserve will be stationed at hospitals across Upolu and Savai‘i, delivering specialised care and consultations.

The Soifua Manuia program, first launched in 2014, aims to support health systems in the Pacific by pairing American medical personnel with local healthcare providers. This year’s mission will provide services in surgery, cardiology, paediatrics, family medicine, emergency care, and more.

Daniel Tarapacki, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, said the program reflects the United States’ commitment to strengthening health capacity and improving public health outcomes through international partnerships. “Our U.S. medical professionals integrate with partners on the ground to deliver high-impact results and improve health capacity across borders,” he said.

Consultations by the U.S. team are free of charge, though local hospital fees may still apply.
