Satuiatua multipurpose hall opens with government and village support

The Satuiatua Multipurpose Hall was officially opened on 27 September 2024, by Palauli No.1 MP and Minister of Women, Community & Social Development, Hon. Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molio’o. The project, costing SAT321,991.71, was co-financed by the Palauli 1 District Development Council (DDC), the Methodist Church, and Satuiatua Village Council. The land was provided by the Methodist Church.

The opening was attended by around 100 guests, and the event was led by Rev. Esekielu Alaiva’a. The Minister acknowledged the village council’s role in completing the project and pointed to the importance of local efforts in achieving self-reliance. She noted that despite challenges, the collaborative effort succeeded in delivering the facility.

Leilua Tutogi Mailei, a representative of the Satuiatua Village Council, explained that the hall is intended for church functions, village meetings, and government consultations. It will also be available for hire to support its upkeep and generate income for the village.

The 1 Million Tala Project contributed SAT100,000 to the funding, with additional support from the village council, Women’s Village Committee, Methodist Church, and individual donations.

The facility includes wheelchair access, two bathrooms, and a kitchenette, ensuring accessibility for all.
